Our students looked forward to this year's Taiwan International Orchid Exhibition. In cooperation with Taiwan Orchid Growers Association, the students of Department of Horticulture served as volunteers for orchid exhibition interpretation, exhibition layout, and landscape layout competition. Before the exhibition, many students from the Department of Horticulture enthusiastically participated in the recruitment of the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association and served as the interpreters of the orchid exhibition. In addition to training before the trip, the students also needed to have a love for orchids and the confidence to express themselves. Some students with good foreign language skills could also take foreign tourists on professional tours. It was a very interesting and valuable experience for the students. The theme of the Orchid Exhibition was clear and rich; in addition to visiting the exhibition, the students also took the opportunity to participate in seminars. During the process of landscape layout competition, the students were allowed to display their creativity and strengths in the exhibition venue. Three groups of students participated in this competition and their works were displayed in the International Orchid Exhibition. Through this off-campus visit, students could have a deeper understanding of the flowering performance and characteristics of various orchids. During the visit, the students were allowed to peruse through the exhibition field by themselves, to give explanations to visitors, and to find the orchid species in which they were interested from the landscape exhibition area to the competition flower area. During the discussion, the feedback from the students also revealed that they have benefited from this visit a lot. |
